About the Artist
The ever-perspicacious reader will already have discovered without difficulty that modesty is not my specialty. My work delves into the subconscious mind, intensely exploring the research of Sigmund Freud, in particular ‘The interpretation of dreams’. In my evocation of Modernist painters, I work using my stylistic quotation that adheres to the practices of Surrealism & Impressionism. My intentions are poetic, in the luminous textures of the paint and the affirmation of the physical act of painting. I stress the sense of visual depth and aim to convey the inner machinations of my mind. In the aesthetic point of view, freedom is formlessness. I often use formless figures to decorate oil-covered canvases in order to relinquish the paranoid state of mind I have trapped inside. The projects I embark on unusually channel my curiosity towards the relationship between mental health and art. The framework of my practice pertains to the fact that the result you are looking for will always be out of reach; hence the incessant quest for the next best thing will forever keep hold of me.
I have always had a passion for artistic endeavours. My anscetry had many artists before me pass on their creative capacity and determination. I only wish to continue it for myself but most of all, my mother who taught me everything I know and use today.
